Is Worth Ethereum Mining with a AMD Radeon RX 480?

Is the RX 480 a mining GPU for Ethereum?

This GPU with 2304 stream processors and 8GB of 8000MHz GDDR5 memory is small and low on Power consumption, this makes it a potential mining GPU.

Lets test this GPU.

Manufacturers

Radeon, Shapphire, Gigabyte, Asus, MSI, Powercolor are some of the Manufacturers using AMD RX 480 Chip,

There are 2 versions of this GPU the 4 Gb and the 8 Gb

RX 480 with 4GB video memory  runs at 7 GHz and the  8GB model  runs at 8 GHz

This article will analyze the 8Gb version.

Hash Rate

The expected Hash Rate using an AMD RX 480 for mining in Ethereum around 24.7 (Mh/s) with no bios modification.

The expected Hash Rate using an AMD RX 480 for mining in Ethereum around 28 (Mh/s) with bios modification.

Overclocking

This GPU announces  150W at the default settings.

This is confirmed by the fact that while mining Ethereum with the default settings the GPU frequency hovers up to about 1240 MHz and does not go all the way up to 1266 MHz.

Essentially hitting the power limit of 150W that the card has, increasing a bit the power limiter by a few percent over the default 100% allows the GPU to stay at the full 1266 MHz…

Not that it makes any difference for mining Ethereum, but it could be important for other not so video memory intensive crypto algorithms.

Power consumption

The AMD RX 480 graphical Card has a very good power consumption.

With only 150 W, this is a very good energy consumption.

With a Profit Ratio per day of 313% and a profit per month of $365, makes this GPU a good option for rig mining operations.

The AMD RX 480 8gb is a very good miner

Dual Mining and other minings

With dual mining, mode enabled to mine both Ethereum and Decred at the same time the results show about 24.3 MHS for Ethereum and about 365 MHS for Decred (at default intensity of 30).

Windows or Linux

According to most reviewers, it is better to mine with the RX 4xx on Linux, at least for now. They state that Linux drivers work better than Windows ones.

Cooling

There are no cooling issues related the 4xx series and the Radeon RX 480 is no exception.

It is very stable in load mode and there are no complaints about temperature issues to the date.

Price change prospects

Some people miners from the community managed to get the most of their RX 480 and are happy with their purchase, and we believe they can get to be sold with almost no loss after use.

The huge market search for this GPU gives you the guarantees you need to be sure you can sell it if you decide to upgrade your mining rig.

The big problem at the moment is where to buy this card, because they are totally sold out.

Conclusion – Is Worth Ethereum Mining with a AMD Radeon RX 480?

If you are thinking to buy a AMD Radeon RX 480 for mining ethereum, you will get what you are searching for with a medium budget.

Overclocking is easy and efficient for mining purposes adding value to your Mining hash rate.

Possible difficulty in buy one, but the opinion is TO BUY for mining purposes.
